1. Who we are
Live Couples (the “App”) and the website where you are reading this (the “Site”) are operated by DEV12BR SISTEMAS E APLICATIVOS LTDA, a company registered in Brazil under CNPJ 00.000.000/0001-00, located in Lençóis Paulista, São Paulo, Brazil (“we”, “us”).
We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy, as defined by the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Lei nº 13.709/2018, “LGPD”) and, where applicable, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
Our data protection officer (in Brazil, the Encarregado) can be reached at [email protected].
2. How the live video call works
Understanding the technology makes it easier to understand what we can and cannot see. Live Couples uses WebRTC, the same open standard that powers video calls in modern browsers.
1. Connecting the two phones (signaling)
When you start a live game, the two phones need to find each other on the internet. To do that, they briefly exchange technical connection details through our signaling service: a temporary session identifier, the type of connection each phone supports and the network addresses (IP addresses and ports) where each phone can be reached. This information is used only to open the call.
2. The call itself is peer to peer
Once connected, video and audio travel directly from one phone to the other. They do not pass through our servers. The stream is encrypted with DTLS‑SRTP, and the encryption keys are negotiated between the two devices. We do not hold those keys.
3. When a direct connection is not possible
Some networks (certain hotel, office, school and mobile networks) block direct connections between devices. Only in that case, the call is routed through a relay server (a TURN server). Even then:
- the audio and video remain end to end encrypted between the two phones;
- the relay only forwards encrypted packets. It cannot decrypt, watch, listen to or record the call;
- the relay necessarily processes the IP addresses of both phones and technical metadata such as the amount of data transferred and the duration of the session.
4. What we never do
We do not record calls. We do not store video, audio or images from your camera. Nobody at Live Couples can watch or listen to your games.
5. Two important things to keep in mind
- Your partner sees your IP address. In any peer to peer connection, each device learns the network address of the other. An IP address can reveal an approximate location (usually city or region). Only play live with people you trust.
- We cannot stop the other person from capturing their own screen. The operating system of the other phone may allow screenshots or screen recording. Recording or sharing someone’s image without consent is forbidden by our Terms of Use and may be a crime.
6. Offline mode
In offline mode both players use the same phone and no call is made. Game information stays on that device.
3. Data we collect and why
We collect as little as possible. The table below describes each category, why we use it and the legal basis that allows it under the LGPD (art. 7 and art. 11) and the GDPR (art. 6).
| Data | Why we use it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Player names you type in the game | To show whose turn it is. Stored on your device and shown to your partner during the session. | Performance of the contract |
| Custom categories, truths and dares you create | To let you play with your own content. Stored on your device. | Performance of the contract |
| Connection data: IP address, session identifier, connection type, date and time | To connect the two phones, relay encrypted traffic when needed, prevent abuse and comply with legal record keeping duties. | Performance of the contract; legal obligation (Marco Civil da Internet, art. 15); legitimate interest (security) |
| Camera and microphone | Used only while a live game is running, to transmit your image and voice to your partner. Never stored or sent to our servers. | Your choice to start a call, and the permission you grant on your phone |
| Purchase data: subscription status, product, transaction identifiers, country | To unlock Premium features and handle support requests. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never receive card numbers. | Performance of the contract |
| Usage and diagnostics: app version, device model, operating system, language, approximate country, which screens and features are used, crash reports | To fix bugs, measure stability and decide what to improve. Linked to a random identifier, not to your name. | Legitimate interest; consent where required by law |
| Support messages: your email and what you write to us | To answer you. | Performance of the contract; legitimate interest |
What we do not collect
- Recordings, images or audio from your calls.
- Your contacts, photos, messages or files.
- Your precise location (GPS).
- Payment card numbers.
Content about sex life is sensitive personal data under the LGPD and the GDPR. The App is designed so that the content of your games and calls stays between your devices, and we do not build profiles about your intimate life.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it for third party advertising. We only share data with:
- Your partner, in the session you start: your name in the game, your image and voice, and your IP address, as explained above.
- Service providers that operate parts of the App on our behalf, bound by contract to use the data only to provide their service to us:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Apple App Store / Google Play Billing | Processing purchases and subscriptions. We never receive your card details. |
| Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics) | App usage statistics and crash reports, used to fix bugs and improve the app. |
| Signaling / TURN relay infrastructure | Setting up calls (signaling) and relaying encrypted traffic when a direct connection is not possible. |
- Authorities, when required by law or a valid court order, and only to the extent required.
- A successor company, in case of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, which will remain bound by this policy.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers process data on servers located outside Brazil, for example in the United States or the European Union. Relay servers may be located close to you to keep the call fast. When data leaves Brazil or the European Economic Area, we rely on the safeguards allowed by law, such as standard contractual clauses (LGPD art. 33 and GDPR art. 46) or adequacy decisions.
6. How long we keep data
- Call content: never stored.
- Signaling and relay data: kept only while the session is active, except for the access records described below.
- Access records (IP address, date and time of use): kept for 6 months, as required of application providers by the Brazilian Internet Civil Framework (Lei nº 12.965/2014, art. 15), and then deleted.
- Diagnostics and statistics: kept for up to 14 months, then deleted or fully anonymized.
- Purchase records: kept for as long as tax and consumer laws require (in Brazil, generally 5 years).
- Support conversations: kept for up to 2 years after the last message.
- Data on your device (names, custom challenges, settings): stays until you delete it or uninstall the App.
7. How we protect your data
We use end to end encryption for calls (DTLS‑SRTP), encrypted connections (TLS) for every communication with our services, access controls and the principle of least privilege for our team and providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we design Live Couples to minimise what exists to be exposed in the first place: what we do not store cannot leak.
If a security incident may create relevant risk or damage to you, we will notify you and the competent authority (in Brazil, the ANPD) as required by law.
8. Your rights
Under the LGPD (art. 18) you can ask us, at any time and free of charge, to:
- confirm whether we process your data and give you access to it;
- correct incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data;
- anonymise, block or delete unnecessary or excessive data, or data processed unlawfully;
- port your data to another provider;
- delete data processed with your consent, and withdraw that consent;
- tell you who we share data with;
- review decisions made solely by automated processing.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR, including the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Residents of California and other US states have similar rights to know, delete and correct, and to not be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell or share personal data as those terms are defined in US state laws.
To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We may ask for information to confirm that the request is really yours, and we will answer within the deadlines set by law. You may also complain to the Brazilian data protection authority (ANPD) at gov.br/anpd.
9. How to delete your data
- Data on your phone: delete custom content inside the App, or uninstall the App to remove everything stored on the device.
- Data on our side: send an email to [email protected] with the subject “Delete my data”. We will delete or anonymise your data within 15 days, except what the law requires us to keep (such as access records and purchase records), which will be deleted when the legal period ends.
- Subscriptions: deleting your data does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
10. Phone permissions
The App asks for access to the camera and microphone only to make live calls. It may ask to send notifications, for example when your partner invites you to play. You can allow or revoke each permission at any time in your phone settings. Offline mode works without camera and microphone.
11. Adults only
Live Couples is intended exclusively for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor is using the App, we will delete their data and may block access. If you believe a minor is using Live Couples, please write to [email protected].
12. This website and cookies
This Site is informational. It does not ask you to create an account. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, date and time) for security and to keep the Site running.
The Site uses only what is strictly necessary to work, plus your browser’s local storage to remember small preferences, such as dismissing the language suggestion. If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it and update this policy before doing so.
The download buttons take you to the Apple App Store and Google Play, which have their own privacy policies. The QR code on the Site is generated by a script loaded from a public content delivery network (cdnjs, operated by Cloudflare), which receives your IP address when the script is downloaded.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App changes or the law requires it. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will let you know inside the App before it takes effect and, where required, ask for your consent again.
